Comments and Description
Remember the smell of fresh baked bread and the perfume of cinnamon rolls in the town bakery? Sharon’s Pantry is reminiscent of earlier times in America when expert bakers mixed, kneaded, and baked hearty breads, sugar cookies and dark chocolate desserts that nourished our bodies and delighted our senses. In small and large communities across the USA, neighborhood bakeries are making a come back by baking ethnic foods, whole grain and nourishing foods, full-of-flavor breads and yummy desserts from traditional recipes.
The bakery "come-back" is happening in Geneva, Nebraska where Sharon Auld restored a building near the square and built a bakery where Sharon bakes and sells traditional breads and desserts. Among Sharon’s winning recipes are soft baked German pretzels and aebelskivers. The popular aebelskivers are round Danish pancakes stuffed with blueberries, drizzled with maple syrup and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Geneva is a prosperous, solid, full-service community with a charming town square surrounding an imposing courthouse that was built in 1893 and is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Geneva is the county seat, served by U.S. Highway 81 and Nebraska State Highway 41. http://www.ci.geneva.ne.us/
